Here’s what’s worth knowing in Milton Keynes this week.
Operation Mincemeat arrives in Milton Keynes this summer
The award-winning musical Operation Mincemeat will visit Milton Keynes Theatre this summer as part of its first major UK tour.
Based on an extraordinary true story from the Second World War, the show tells the tale of a daring British intelligence operation that helped deceive Nazi Germany ahead of the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943. Combining comedy, espionage and original music, the production has become one of the biggest success stories in British theatre.
After beginning life as a small fringe production, Operation Mincemeat went on to become a West End hit, winning multiple Olivier Awards and attracting widespread critical acclaim.
The musical runs at Milton Keynes Theatre from 8–13 June, giving local audiences the chance to see one of the UK's most talked-about productions without travelling to London.
Milton Keynes Theatre will also host a free Touch Tour on 11 June for blind and visually impaired audience members. Participants can explore costumes, props and stage elements before the performance as part of the theatre's accessibility programme. Advance booking is required..

Three brothers continue family tradition of supporting Willen Hospice
Three Milton Keynes brothers are helping Willen Hospice continue its work in the local community by volunteering at fundraising events inspired by their parents' connection to the charity.
Dave, Ian and Pete regularly give their time to support Hospice events including the popular Midnight Moo and Christmas tree collection service. Their involvement began after their father, Leslie, received end-of-life care from Willen Hospice in 2008, while their late mother Margaret went on to become a long-serving volunteer.
The brothers say volunteering has allowed them to give something back while meeting new people and helping raise awareness of the Hospice's work across Milton Keynes.
Today, more than 600 volunteers support almost every aspect of the Hospice's services, from fundraising and retail to administration, gardening and patient wellbeing activities. The charity says volunteers play a vital role in helping it provide care and support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses.
