Free family event announced at Willen Lake this May

A new community event called Love Willen will take place at Willen Lake on Saturday 23 May, bringing together free activities for families alongside fundraising events for Willen Hospice.

The morning will include Splash ’n’ Play, Adventure Golf, pedalos, Treetop Explorer and other activities around the lake. Two optional fundraising challenges will also take place, including open-water swimming sessions and a family-friendly 4K walk in support of the hospice.

Organisers say the event is designed to bring the local community together while raising money for the care provided by Willen Hospice.

Easter rail disruption to affect Milton Keynes travellers

Passengers travelling between Milton Keynes and London are being warned about major disruption over Easter due to engineering works on the West Coast Main Line.

No trains will run between London Euston and Milton Keynes for several days over Easter while track improvements are carried out, with replacement buses expected to operate instead.

Travellers are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during the closure period in early April.

Network Rail says the work is part of a long-term programme to improve reliability on the route.

Schools to receive funding to support families in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes City Council has announced new funding for school-led projects designed to support families facing financial pressure.

The scheme will allow schools to apply for grants to run activities and provide practical help for pupils and parents, including food support, after-school programmes, and community initiatives.

Council leaders say the pilot programme is aimed at helping families who may be struggling with the cost of living, while also giving schools more flexibility to respond to local needs.

Several projects are expected to begin later this year if funding applications are approved.
